Whelming Godiva by Whelming Prince
The "Homeplace" was first established before the Civil War in 1849 a few miles south of the Red River. Many persistent women and men kept this little piece of heaven going through various travails. We are dedicated to keeping this pioneer spirit alive by breeding, raising and training fine specimens of the versatile American Quarterhorse and the resilient Texas Longhorn.
The ranch was named for Jerusalem Ridge, a fiddle tune named after a hill near Rosine, Kentucky, where Bill Monroe, the "father of bluegrass music", was born and raised. Although Jerusalem Ridge Ranch is located east of Sherman, between Gainesville and Paris, Texas, it's a delightful land a bit reminiscent of the hills and hollows of Kentucky and Virginia. Email us for a visit and we might even play you a tune or two on the clawhammer banjo and the mandolin!
